Explore Baja's desert during
tour to Candelaria village
If you're looking for an experience that's a little closer to nature and lets you see how the Baja natives live, this ATV tour may be just the ticket. This 30-mile ride on four-wheel all-terrain vehicles lasts about six hours and travels over dirt roads and trails, across eight rural ranches to the village of Candelaria.
Enroute, you'll visit "El Salto" (small waterfall) where a rock formation has a stream running through it most of the year. Local wildlife and cattle gather there.
The second stop on this tour is at "Los Pozos" (the wells) where a well-preserved 100-year-old church still stands and serves the small ranch and village.
The final destination is "La Candelaria", a village with about 60 residents. It has a small church, school and a small electric plant. One thing that makes this town interesting and a bit mysterious is that its' residents tend to live very long lives -- most of them make it to 90 years of age! You'll be able to see old adobe houses that have weathered many storms.
During the return to your starting point, you'll stop at Playa Migriño on the Pacific Ocean to cool off in the water, rest on the beach or take a lunch break.
Jeans and closed shoes are recommended. We provide head gear, goggles, bandanas and water. A driver's license and credit card are required to check out your ATV. Up to two people can ride on one ATV.
Free transportation is provided from Cabo San Lucas to the starting point which is about 25 miles to the north.
The tour leaves at 9 a.m. and returns at 3 p.m.
(Note: You may be charged an additional $4 permit fee per ATV by the service provider if your tour passes through a beach area. You should be prepared to pay the permit fee in cash directly to the service provider.)
